Thanks Chicago!

Here isĀ  a review of our show done by the Chicago Tribune. We were all psyched when we read it.

“The sketches of New Excitement exist in a relentlessly physical, almost Pythonesque alternate reality where insane behavior has become the norm. I liked the group’s zany confidence.

The actors brought their show “Really Good News,” which just wrapped a six-month run at Upright Citizens Brigade in New York. The cast was dressed entirely in white, better to show off the food stains they would accumulate. Mustachioed Chris Manley (an expert clown) was totally funny as a guy who became sexually aroused every time he cried, and vice versa. The sketch became a hilariously endless cycle, and Manley’s long-limbed, I’ve-just-been-electrocuted physicality is what sold the bit.

Nothing feels predictable with this group. Even a transition between scenes became its own brief joke riffing on musical chairs. This is an antic, irrepressible group, at times veering into live-action “Looney Tunes” territory. Former Chicagoan Mary Grill (the lone woman) was the big standout, displaying a manic, I’m-going-all-the-way kind of energy that was the primary force driving the show.”
